Indianapolis, In. – A federal judge ruled that Shane Meehan is now mentally fit to face trial, reversing a previous decision that paused the case. Meehan is accused of shooting veteran detective and FBI task force agent Greg Ferency outside an FBI office. While Meehan can now stand trial, his defense team has notified the court that they intend to pursue an insanity defense. This comes after a recent ruling that permanently removed the death penalty from the case. The judge ordered both sides to submit proposed trial dates and venue options by June 5th.
