Terre Haute, In. – A Shelburn woman faces felony charges after allegedly throwing a stolen puppy from a moving car window during a Terre Haute burglary. Investigators say twenty-nine-year-old Casey Graham broke into a home on Ash Street and took a German Shepherd puppy, later tossing the animal from a car onto the roadway as she fled the scene. The puppy survived the fall but was found with a worn paw and jaggedly cut nails that police believe were intentionally mutilated. Authorities linked Graham to the crime through text messages where she allegedly told the victims they “should have paid,” suggesting the attack was motivated by a financial dispute. Graham is currently held on a twenty-five-thousand-dollar bond for burglary, theft, and torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal.
