First Case Of Coronavirus Reported In Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS–Indiana has its first case of coronavirus, announced Gov. Eric Holcomb and state Department of Health authorities, Friday morning.

That person is in isolation in Marion County.

State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box

At a press conference, State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box said that the person is an adult male who recently traveled to Boston and had contact with individuals at an event where positive cases have been identified.

Box said that there are no ongoing risks to the public from this person.

Holcomb declared a public health state of emergency, so that state resources will be available to help fight the virus.  He added that you should not panic and should wash your hands frequently and limit touching your face.

The Health Department said you can expect to hear about more people with coronavirus.
