Brazil, In. – A Clay County judge has sentenced 58-year-old Timothy Cheatham to 40 years in prison for dealing and possessing methamphetamine. Following a two-day trial earlier this month, a jury found Cheatham guilty on all counts and determined he was a habitual offender. Judge Matthew Sheehan cited Cheatham’s extensive criminal record dating back to the 1980s as the basis for the lengthy sentence. The case was the result of a 2023 investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office into local drug distribution.
