Terre Haute, In — A homeless man is in custody following a violent attack on a jogger in Fairbanks Park Tuesday morning. According to the Terre Haute Police Department, a woman was jogging a new route through a wooded area of the park when she was struck from behind. The assailant then brandished a knife, slashing at the victim as she tried to defend herself. The victim suffered stab wounds to her arm and stomach but managed to escape after kicking the suspect and fleeing to the Rally’s on 3rd Street to call for help. She was treated for her injuries at Union Hospital. Officers arrested the suspect shortly after receiving a description of the attacker.
