Vermillion County, In. – The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office received several reports an Emu running loose around State Road 63 and U.S. 36. Tuesday afternoon Deputies located the bird. With the help of State Trooper Tyler Turchi a plan was laid out for the Emu’s capture. They laid down a large dog leash with a loop on the end then the officers herded the bird toward it. When it stepped into the loop, they snatched it tight around its leg and the large bird was pinned to the ground. A livestock tailor was brought in, and the Emu was returned to its owners.
