Clay County, In – A Greencastle man already behind bars faces new child sex abuse charges following a months-long state police investigation in Clay County. Twenty-four-year-old Jerry Barger of Greencastle was formally served with an arrest warrant at the Clay County Jail. According to reports from the Indiana State Police, detectives launched a criminal inquiry in February after learning a female juvenile had been sexually abused within Clay County. Investigators determined Barger allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with the young girl. Barger is now charged with two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, both filed as Level 4 felonies. Authorities note that Barger was already incarcerated at the jail on unrelated charges from a separate case when the new warrant was served.
