TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Terre Haute Fire Department officially welcomed 12 new firefighters at the Terre Haute Convention Center. The ceremony concluded a four-month training academy that prepared the recruits for active field service through rigorous technical and physical training. The class earned Firefighter One and Two certifications, completed heavy machinery driver-operator courses, and mastered high-angle rope rescue to graduate as certified rope technicians. Training also pushed recruits through live-burn simulations and blackout search drills to mirror intense real-world emergencies. These 12 new members are now deployed to protect the city of Terre Haute.
