Marshall, Il. – Drivers on I-70 east of Marshall should prepare for delays as a major bridge reconstruction project is now officially underway. The $8.2 million effort focuses on replacing the westbound bridge near the 148-mile marker, requiring a traffic crossover that shifts westbound vehicles into the eastbound passing lane. With only one lane open in each direction and a temporary barrier in place, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office is warning of narrow conditions and potential diversions for oversize loads onto Route 40. This phase of the project is expected to continue through September, so motorists are urged to stay alert for workers and changing patterns throughout the summer.
