
Terre Haute, Ind. — A brief standoff on the city’s south side ended peacefully Thursday afternoon as Terre Haute police took a 25-year-old man into custody following a domestic dispute. Officers were called to a residence in the 1800 block of South 28th Street around noon on a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, police learned that the suspect, identified as Caden Heyman, had barricaded himself inside the home and was making threats of violence toward responding officers. The SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called to the scene. After a period of communication, Heyman surrendered without further incident. Investigators report that an adult at the scene sustained minor injuries, and a child under the age of 14 was struck by an item thrown during the initial dispute. Police also recovered firearms inside the residence that the suspect allegedly attempted to conceal. Heyman was booked into the Vigo County Jail.
