Terre Haute, In – The 27th Annual Special Olympics Indiana Polar Plunge returned to the Indiana State University Student Recreation Center on February 14th. Armed with costumes and plenty of courage, 130 plungers braved the icy dip to support athletes with intellectual disabilities. ISU President Mike Godard led the charge as the first to jump, followed by a sea of participants including ISU Head Football Coach Kurt Mallory and his players. Local organizations also made a splash: the Rose-Hulman Football Team took home the award for most money raised by a team, contributing over $6,700 to the cause. By the time the last splash settled, the event had raised a total of $28,575. These funds ensure that Special Olympics Indiana can continue providing year-round sports, health, and leadership programs at no cost to more than 20,000 athletes statewide.
