Terre Haute, In. – An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate at the Vigo County Jail last week. Authorities say that a man was found unresponsive in a holding cell early Friday morning. Efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful. The inmate was identified as 60-year-old Donald Pifer, of Terre Haute. Sheriff Fell reports that, through an autopsy, a plastic bag was located within the stomach of Pifer during the procedure. Official toxicology results of the bags contents are pending.
