Terre Haute, In. – In September of 2025 then 17 year-old Kristopher Kelly was arrested after attacking his mothers husband with an axe and a knife. It all started with an argument. During the dispute, Kelly allegedly struck the victim with an axe and used a knife. The victim was able to get away and call the police. When Terre Haute Police officers arrived they found the victim with severe injuries, including puncture wounds to his back and a laceration on his neck. Kelly was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Center facing charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon and Criminal Recklessness committed with a Deadly Weapon. On Tuesday (1/20/26) Kelly was transferred to The Vigo County Jail after reaching the age of 18. His next pretrial conference is scheduled for February 12 with a trial date currently set for March 13.
