Vigo County, In. – As the snow began to fall Saturday driving conditions deteriorated quickly.
All area police agencies were busy most of the day dealing with accidents and slide offs.
Interstate 70 westbound was shutdown at the 15 mile marker between Brazil and Terre Haute as a
chain reaction accident resulted in up to 50 vehicles including passenger vehicles and semi’s.
There were a few minor injuries which were treated at area hospitals. The state police routed
westbound traffic off the interstate at SR 59 to US 40 SR 46. It was nearly 6 hours before the
interstate was opened back up.
