Public Meeting Held To Discuss Dukes Proposed Rate Hike

Terre Haute, In. –  The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission held a public meeting in Terre Haute Tuesday evening to allow residents to voice their concerns or support of a proposed rate increase by Duke Energy.  Duke Energy’s request would raise annual revenues for its Indiana electric utility by nearly $492 million. The average customers rate would increase around 16% making the average monthly bill over $170.  Many residents of the area attended the meeting and expressed their feeling about the rate increase.  The common thread in the comments were customers can barely afford the cost of electricity now and that Dule is already making huge profits why do they need more.  It was also brought up about Duke contributing to various organization with customers money.  You still have time to make comments on the proposed rate hike by going to the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor web site in.gov/oucc/contact-us/ no later than Friday, July 5.
