NASHVILLE, Indiana — A woman who said she was having a mental health crisis told police she intentionally set fire to clothing in her vehicle at a convenience store before hitting a fuel pump and then driving into the building.

At 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Brown County Dispatch received a call from an employee at the Speedway convenience store saying a vehicle crashed into the store and there was a fire. Police and firefighters were notified by the 911 operator.

When an officer arrived he saw flames on top of the vehicle and he saw an employee at the convenience store was extinguishing the flames.

The officer spoke with the driver outside the building while the firefighters called to have utilities to the building shut off.

The driver said she was suffering a mental health crisis at the time of the crash and agreed to go to a nearby hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment. She also said she had been drinking before the incident.

The incident remains under investigation and charges may be pending.
