I-70 Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

<![CDATA[PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind – Thursday (3/9/19) afternoon just before 3:00 p.m., an Indiana State Trooper noticed a car driving slowly in the left lane of westbound Interstate 70 near the 44-mile marker.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as 30-year-old Hannah Danneberger, of Mattoon, Illinois.  The Passenger in the vehicle was identified as 51-year-old Michael Oldfield, also of Mattoon, Illinois.
During the traffic stop, the trooper became suspicious and a Putnam County Sheriff’s K-9 gave a positive alert to the odor of illegal drugs.
During the search of the vehicle, the trooper discovered 12 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $6,500.
Oldfield was a convicted felon and was also in possession of a .40 caliber hand gun.
Danneberger and Oldfield were both arrested on numerous charges.
