NIPSCO To Add Three Wind Farms To Northern Indiana

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — Northern Indiana Public Service (NIPSCO) is planning to add three wind farms in an effort to gradually shift from coal-fired power to renewable energy.
NIPSCO says the northern and western Indiana farms will generate 800 megawatts of power, helping it move toward a goal of being coal-free by late 2028.
The Merrillville-based utility announced Friday that the wind farms would be in Benton, Montgomery, Warren and White counties and have nearly 300 wind turbines.
