Terre Haute, In. – The Terre Haute Humane Shelter has been closed for the past few days following an investigation into several recent canine deaths. The shelter paused all public access, adoptions, and volunteer activities after several recent dog deaths. Right now, the exact cause of those deaths remains unknown. Shelter leaders emphasize that the temporary shutdown was strictly a safety precaution while they consulted with local veterinary professionals. Deep cleaning and diagnostic testing are still underway throughout the facility. While standard public services are on hold, essential animal control and emergency response teams remain active in the community. They hope to open the shelter back up later today.
