Terre Haute, In. – Terre Haute officials have finalized a massive update to the city’s twenty-five-year sewer control plan. The four-hundred-twenty-million-dollar road map is designed to meet strict federal E-P-A mandates aimed at slashing sewer overflows and cleaning up the Wabash River over the next two and a half decades. By stretching the infrastructure project timeline out to twenty-five years, city planners say they are dramatically easing the immediate financial burden on local ratepayers. While a ten percent sewer rate increase is now penciled in for the year 2030, city savings have successfully kept that figure much lower than originally anticipated. Local residents inside city limits can also expect a new storm water fee beginning in 2027 to help fund the environmental upgrades.
