Driver Of Stolen Car Leads Police on Several Mile Pursuit

Vigo County, In. – Just before 9am Tuesday morning a Vigo County Sheriff Deputy responded to 3406 E Goldenrod Ave. to check on a possible stolen vehicle from Terre Haute. The deputy and the Seelyville Town Marshal located the vehicle and confirmed it was stolen. The occupant of the vehicle refused verbal commands to exit the vehicle and instead fled. Deputies pursued the vehicle for several miles until the driver stopped on Grande Ave in Terre Haute. The suspect, 55-year-old Scott Maxwell, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Vigo County Jail charged with vehicle theft and resisting law enforcement. No injuries were reported. Several agencies including the Seelyville Marshal, the Terre Haute Police Department, West Terre Haute Police Department assisted in the pursuit.
